Competition
Why does everything have to be a competition? Why do we always have to be better than those around us? Trust me i am a perfectionist so I would like nothing better than to come out on top, and be better than those around me. Sometimes though it just doesn’t work that way and we have to accept being “number two” as it were. I think that the main reason that we compete and want to win is to feel good about ourselves, which is really self-centered if you think about it. There is always technically a winner and a loser at EVERYTHING, but does that mean we have to always be classifying things/people by “winners” and “losers”? Athletes always say it is like “you are on top of the world” or something like that when you win but what about the times you don’t win? Now I am not really into the typical sports people keep track of, I watch a little bit of soccer, a little basketball, a little baseball, I HATE FOOTBALL, but I don’t keep track of scores like its a life or death matter like some people do. I have seen people at games (especially at final/chapionships) riot, cry, swear, etc. after losing. At some point you have to realize that it is just a game and all thats on the line is self-ritious egos and reputations that in the big picture of things really aren’t that important. So it is cool to win but don’t make your whole life about winning and losing its not worth it.
